Home educators to meet

The Indiana Association of Home Educators will hold its 27th annual convention on Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, at the Community Church of Greenwood, 1477 W. Main St. in Greenwood.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. There will be speakers, instructional workshops, informational booths and curriculum vendors.
The event will end at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. For more information or to pre-register, see www.iahe.net.  
      
Wine tasting
Psi Iota Xi Sorority will host a Wine Tasting on Saturday, March 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Portland Lions Civic Center.

Proceeds will benefit projects in the Jay County area.

Library news
Jay County Public Library will have a Puzzle Swap in March.
New or  gently used puzzles may be dropped off at the library March 1 through 22 and puzzle coupons will be given. Bring the coupons to the library  March 26 through 31 and choose a new-to-you puzzle.
Speed Book Sharing, for anyone wanting to share about their favorite books, will be held March 6 at 6 p.m. at the library.
Participants will be paired up and each will be given three minutes to summarize a book they have read. Partners will then be switched.
Refreshments will be served. To register by March 3, call the library at (260) 726-7890.  

Dean’s list
Kimberly Nibarger, Pennville, was named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at Indiana University East in Richmond.
Austin S. Mann, Portland, was named to the dean’s list for the fall term at Hanover College.

Round-up
The Jay School Corporation has announced a schedule for kindergarten round-up for students enrolling in the fall of 2012.
General Shanks Elementary and Redkey Elementary— April 3.
Pennville Elementary, Westlawn Elementary and Bloomfield Elementary  — April 4.
Judge Haynes Elementary and East Elementary — April 5.
Round-up sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last approximately two hours.[[In-content Ad]]
