Hornaday invited to try out

Mariah Hornaday, a Jay County High School junior, has been invited to try-out for the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association junior all-star team.
Hornaday, a middle hitter, will try out for the North squad Sunday at LaPorte High School. The junior and senior all-star matches will be Nov. 21 at Perry Meridian.
She racked up a team-high 401 kills this year for the Patriots, leading the team to its first sectional title match since 2006. She also had 93 blocks, 43 digs, 28 aces and 11 assists.
Two Stars awarded
A pair of South Adams players was honored as part of the All-Allen County Athletic Conference volleyball teams.
Senior middle hitter Taylor Farlow earned All-ACAC second-team honors, as did freshman setter Alyssa Bluhm.

Bader wins group
Sophie Bader led the Jay County Winter Swim Team, winning the 11-12-year-old division at this weekend’s Noblesville Ice Breaker Invitational.
Bader won eight of her 10 events and was second in her other two. Her victories came in the 50-yard freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley.
Eliza Bader added victories in the 8-and-younger girls 25 fly, 50 free and 100 free, and Drew LeFever was first in the 11-12-year-old boys 50 butterfly. The Jay County 8-and-younger girls and boys freestyle relay teams of Erica Hathaway, Lilly Clemmons, Ava Bubp and Eliza Bader and Regan Martin, Luke Vormohr, Gavin Thobe and Grady Sprunger each earned victories.[[In-content Ad]]
