Hubble model at Minnetrista (2/17/05)
Taking Note
An exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service is on display at Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie.
The Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe will be at Minnetrista through May 31.
Visitors will enter through a darkened tunnel where Hubble images hurtle toward them while space sounds fill the tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel is a large 1.5 scale model of the telescope; the actual size is nearly that of a school bus.
Visitors will also learn about the history of the Hubble by participating in interactive and hands-on activities.
To learn more about the Hubble telescope, visit http://hubblesite.org.
Also at Minnetrista is From Fruit Jars to Satellites through May 31. This display shows how Ball Corporation designed the correction for the out-of-focus Hubble Space Telescope.
Our vanishing sky addresses the issues surrounding light pollution, light trespass and glare and how poor outdoor lighting affects people, animals and astronomers.
DEAN’S LIST
Rachel Kathryn McKee of Portland has made the dean’s list at Anderson University for the fall semester of the 2004-05 academic year.
