Fort Recovery High School sophomore Marshall Hull will be the No. 30 seed Saturday for the boys swimming Division II District meet at Bowling Green State University. He will compete Saturday at 4:20 p.m.
The top four swimmers in each event are guaranteed a berth in the state finals.
Hull’s time of 1 minute, 4.07 seconds puts him ahead of Bryan’s Connor Robinson and Ottawa Glandorf’s Justin Vorst in the field of 32 swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly. The top seed in the event is Shawnee’s Erik Risolvato at 50.81 seconds, and the No. 4 seed is Celina’s Tyus Temple at 55.84 seconds.
The sophomore earned the district berth with a 10th-place finish at the Lima sectional meet.
WJ grapplers split
WINCHESTER — The West Jay Middle School wrestling team picked up a 48-33 victory Thursday over Randolph Southern, but lost 60-39 to host Driver.
Mitch Bennett, Bryce Bantz and Logan Bantz each picked up a pair of wins for the Eagles.
Bennett (HWT) pruned in pins in 16 seconds against Randolph Southern and 30 seconds against Winchester, and Bryce Bantz (145/135) picked up pins in 14 and 32 seconds respectively. Logan Bantz (135/145) won in 12 seconds against Randolph Southern and then picked up a 4-3 victory versus Winchester.
Jon Blankenship (175) earned a pin in the win over Randolph Southern, and Dallas Dudelston (105) and Triston VanSkyock (152) each had pins versus Winchester.[[In-content Ad]]
