Hunt leads JC with hurdle win (04/30/07)

MUNCIE - The Patriots came away with one victory. Not surprisingly, it was from Erika Hunt.
Hunt stayed perfect in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday at the Muncie Southside Invitational, leading the Jay County girls to a fourth-place finish with 85 points. The team edged Olympic Athletic Conference rival Connersville by one point, and was 11 behind sectional rival Delta.
Muncie Central finished first at the eight-team event with 108 points, eight ahead of Anderson Highland.
Hunt continued her hot streak in the shorter of the two hurdle events, winning the race in 17.58 seconds. She has not been beaten in the event in five tries this year.
Her undefeated streak in the 300 hurdles came to an end as she finished fourth at 52.69.
Amanda Johnson and Kylie Wellman turned in the other top finishes for the Patriots. Johnson was the runner-up in the 800 run at 2-minutes, 29 seconds, and Wellman placed second with a time of 13:18 in the 3,200 run.
Lancaster leads boys
NEW CASTLE - Andrew Lancaster did a good portion of the scoring for the Jay County boys team Friday night, tallying 12 of its 34 points.
The Patriots finished last at the six-team New Castle Invitational while Muncie Southside won with 156, and the host Trojans were second with 102.
Lancaster had the top individual efforts for Jay County with a pair of third-place finishes. He was No. 3 in the shot put at 43 feet, 9 inches, and finished third in the dicus at a distance of 111 feet, 9 inches.
Adding fourth-place finishes were Mason Shreve in the 110-meter hurdles (17.1 seconds), and Sean Hatzell in the 200 dash (23.8 seconds).[[In-content Ad]]
