IATCCC honors Jay trio

Three Jay County High School athletes recently received all-state honors for track and field.
The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches named Zane Shreve and Abbi Dunlavy to the first team academic all-state. Amber Huelskamp was given honorable mention.
Shreve, who will attend Miami University (Ohio) next season to compete in the decathlon, was given the nod for the second straight year. Dunlavy and Huelskamp helped the Patriot girls win their fifth straight sectional championship May 20.
Huelskamp, Dunlavy and Shreve are all 2014 JCHS graduates.

Crossroads victorious
Six players from Crossroads Federal Credit Union had multiple-hit games Thursday in a 16-7 victory over Frontline Construction in Portland Junior League Minor softball.
Lita Chowning and Brittney Mullins each had three hits. Chowning scored three times, and Mullins reached home once.
Makenzi Bye, Mariah Gross, Abby Gillum and Makaya Champ all had a pair of hits and scored twice.
Maddy Wenk led the way for Frontline with three hits and two runs. Aubrie Schwieterman added three hits, including one triple, and scored twice.

Fisher gets close win
In Portland Junior League Minor girls softball action Thursday, Fisher Meats edged First Bank of Berne 12-10.
Grace Brewster and Justice Day each had three hits to pave the way for the Fisher offense. Emma Swingley, Drew Dressel and Rieley Brewester all added two hits.
Patience Hambrock chipped in with a single.
Brewster and Day both pitched Fisher to the win.[[In-content Ad]]
