Indian spikers beat Arcanum

ARCANUM, Ohio — The Indians couldn’t finish off the sweep. But they wouldn’t let the match get away.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team picked up its third victory Monday, knocking off the Arcanum Trojans 25-15, 25-19, 12-25, 25-17.
Sophomore Cassidy Rammel powered the Indians (3-5), whose other wins this season came over Misissinawa Valley and Allen East, with 17 assists, 14 service points and six digs. Tori Lennartz, also a sophomore, had 14 blocks and six kills, and senior Kelsey Fiely totaled seven digs and four kills.
Emily Link finished with nine service points, Hannah Kaup had six digs and Sierra Pugh added five assists.

Redskins top golfers
CELINA, Ohio — The St. Henry Redskins handed Fort Recovery a 181-193 defeat Monday at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Elijah Kahlig posted the low score for the Indians (5-13) and recorded one of their two birdies. He played the par-4 seventh hole at 1-under and added three pars and three bogeys as he finished with a 42.
St. Henry’s Brian Kremer edged Kahlig for medalist honors with a 41.
Derek Backs had six bogeys and finished with a 49, and Kent Retz followed with a 50. Chase Bruns birdied the par-4 third hole and rounded out the team score with a 52.
Stewy Alig and Bryce McAbee each shot 55.

JV football loses
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians fell behind by two touchdowns in the opening quarter and their comeback fell short in a 14-13 loss to the Anna Rockets.
Wes Wenning scored the potential tying touchdown on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter. However, FRHS missed on the extra-point attempt as Anna held on for the win.
Darien Sheffer scored the other TD for Fort Recovery (2-1) on a 25-yard run in the second quarter.

Seventh graders win
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade volleyball team improved to 3-2 Monday with a 25-12, 25-22 win over the Celina Bulldogs. The eighth grade squad lost 20-25, 25-12, 25-10.
Madi Grover led the victory for the Tribe seventh graders with six service points and four assists. Kiah Wendel also had six service points, and Carley Stone added three kills.
Devin Post racked up eight service points, five kills, four assists and two digs for the eighth grade team (2-3). Emily Hart had two service points.
