SPENCERVILLE, Ohio - Marissa Brunswick and Abby May each finished in the top 10 Saturday to lead the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team to a third-place finish at the Spencerville Invitational.
The Tribe girls scored 74 points to finish behind the host Bearcats (28) and Covington (53) in the 10-team field. The boys (221) finished eighth out of 12 teams while St. Henry won with 51.
Brunswick set the pace for FRHS as she finished in 21 minutes, 12 seconds for eighth place, and May was 10th in 21:19.
Casey Backs was 17th in 22:02 ahead of Alexis Sutter (18th - 22:03) and Nicole Heitkamp (22nd - 22:23).
Ryan Heitkamp had the top finish for the boys in 30th at 18:48. Nathan Fullenkamp was 35th in 19:10 followed by Calvin Kaiser (36th - 19:18), Marshal Hull (71st - 21:08) and Adam Pohl (80th - 21:57).
Josh Pohl was fourth in the junior high boys race in 11:34 as the Indians placed fifth out of 20 teams. Jessica Vogel finished 12th in the girls race in 13:41 as the Tribe was sixth out of 17.

CELINA, Ohio - The Indian volleyball team fought off the Celina Bulldogs in game three only to fall to a 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20 defeat Saturday.
Nicole Pottkotter had 13 assists, nine kills and two blocks as Fort Recovery slipped to 5-2 on the season. Chelsey Leuthold added 19 digs and 10 kills.
Alyssa Brackman finished with 16 digs and six points, and Josie Guggenbiller had 11 points and three aces.
Abby Backs finished with 10 digs and seven points as the junior varsity Indians (2-4) lost 25-12, 25-17 to Celina.
Freshman lose in 3
The Indians lost 24-26, 27-25, 25-12 Saturday in freshman volleyball action to the Wapakoneta Redskins.
Chelsea Pottkotter paced Fort Recovery (3-2) with seven points and six kills. Emily Link had six assists and five points, and Kelsey Fiely totaled four kills and two digs.[[In-content Ad]]
