Indians blast host Parkway

ROCKFORD, Ohio - The Indians turned in an 8-0 run in the first four minutes of Thursday's game. It was only the beginning.
Fort Recovery High School's girls basketball team added four more runs of eight straight points or more, including a 12-0 in the third quarter, as it destroyed the host Parkway Panthers 73-28.
Chelsea Leuthold scored 13 points to lead the Indians (4-1), who also had a pair of 11-0 runs and a 9-0. Olivia Thien came off the bench for 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, three assists and a block.
Nicole Pottkotter had eight points and 10 rebounds, and Kendra Brunswick also scored eight points. Alyssa Brackman had team highs of four assists and five steals.
Hannah Harshman scored 10 points to lead Parkway, which shot just 26 percent. Kaelia Crawford grabbed 10 rebounds.
Ericka Lennartz totaled 12 points and 12 rebounds in the junior varsity game to lead the Tribe to a 65-21 win. Chelsea Pottkotter added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Kahlig leads 8th
FORT RECOVERY - Elijah Kahlig turned in another big game Thursday as the Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team topped Parkway 47-37. The seventh grade team lost, 39-34.
Kahlig scored 25 points to lead the eighth grade Indians, who improved to 4-0. Kyle Timmerman added 10 points.
Mitch Stammen totaled 15 points to pace the FRHS seventh graders. Derek Backs followed with 10 points.
Girls even records
ST. MARYS, Ohio - Both Fort Recovery Middle School girls basketball teams evened their records at 2-2 Thursday with wins over St. Marys. The eighth grade girls posted a 27-23 win while the seventh graders rolled to a 36-20 triumph.
Lexi Schmitz scored 12 points to power the FRHS eighth graders. Breanna Jutte totaled seven points.
Tori Lennartz matched Schmitz as she scored 12 points for the Indians in the seventh grade game. Mikayla Grover added six points.[[In-content Ad]]
