Indians drop 16th straight in MAC

Fort Recovery roundup

FORT RECOVERY - Their first MAC win in three seasons isn't going to come easily.

The Fort Recovery Indians had a 2-1 lead against Midwest Athletic Conference rival Coldwater Tuesday evening. But the Cavaliers scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning on the way to a 6-3 high school softball victory over the Tribe.

Kinsey Wenning took the loss for FRHS, which has lost 16 straight MAC games with its last win coming 5-2 over Versailles on May 17, 2006. She allowed six runs - four earned - on seven hits while striking out eight batters.

Kelly Thien had two hits, a run and an RBI for the Indians (5-6, 0-2 MAC), who trailed 1-0 before scoring single runs in the second and third innings to take their brief lead. Joanna Snyder went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Amy Hart had a double and an RBI and Josie Guggenbiller doubled and scored a run.

Baseball blanked

COLDWATER, Ohio - Fort Recovery's trip was short-lived Tuesday as the Coldwater Cavaliers scored at least once in every inning for a 10-0 win over the Indians in five.

Greg Kahlig pitched only the first inning for the Tribe, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk to take the loss. Nathan Fortkamp, Travis Hart and A.J. Backs also pitched in the defeat.

Toby Metzger picked up the only hit in the game for Fort Recovery (5-4-1, 0-2 MAC), which commmitted five errors. The only other base-runner for the Tribe in the game was Hart, who drew a walk.
