Indians drop season opener (03/29/05)
Local Roundup
CELINA, Ohio — In their season opener, the Fort Recovery baseball team gave up a first-inning run and was never able to claim the lead in a 4-3 loss to the Celina Bulldogs.
Celina scored single runs in the first and third innings to go up 2-0 before Fort Recovery got on the board. The teams traded runs in the third, and the Tribe (0-1) scored twice in the fourth to forge a tie. But, the deadlock was short-lived as the Bulldogs scored one more time in the bottom of the frame for the final margin.
Brad Fortkamp took the defeat, allowing four runs — two earned — on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Matt Hein finished with two hits for the Indians, including a two-run single in the fifth inning. Dusty Guggenbiller doubled and scored once, and Greg Faller added a pair of hits.
