Local roundup

NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Indians jumped back above .500, surpassed last season’s win total and got their first Midwest Athletic Conference victory all in the same night.

The Fort Recovery baseball team accomplished all of those things Thursday with a 4-2 victory over the New Knoxville Rangers. It is now 9-8 overall and 1-2 in the MAC.

Each team scored twice in the third inning, and the Tribe took the lead with a run in the top of the fifth. It added another run in the top of the sixth, and Matt Hein struck out the side in the seventh to get the save.

Brad Fortkamp was the winning pitcher, scattering 10 hits to allow just two runs in six innings. He struck out four and walked three.
