Indians knock off Jay County

ANDERSON — Alysia Fennig turned in the best round of her life Monday, but it was not quite enough to life the Patriots.
Fennig, a sophomore, shot a 47 to support solid rounds from seniors Abby Denney and Macey Gerber. Still, the Jay County High School girls golf team dropped its first dual match of the season 178-185 to the Anderson Indians.
Fennig came up big early at Grandview Golf Course, recording a par on the second hole and a birdie on the third. She added another par on the sixth and also had three bogeys.
Denney continued to lead the Patriots, racking up four pars and three bogeys on the way to a 43. Gerber had two pars and five bogeys as she shot 45.
Morgan Nadaline of Anderson earned medalist honors with a 38.
Brittany Stevens rounded out the JCHS team score, parring the first hole on the way to a 50. Whitney Gray shot 58, and Cortney Myers finished at 61.

Fort drops to 0-2
CELINA, Ohio — Each of the top four Memorial Roughrider players matched or better Fort Recovery’s best score as they handed the Tribe boys golf team a 160-186 defeat Monday.
Jared Kahlig had five pars for the Indians, including on each of the first three holes at Mercer County Elks Golf Course. He finished with a 42 to lead the Indians.

Dylan Koch earned medalist honors to lead Memorial. Paul Carmean added a 39, followed by Greg Kuffner (41) and Will Paulus (42).
Hayden Pottkotter recorded the only two birdies for Fort Recovery (0-2) on the third and ninth holes as he shot 47. Shawn Roessner notched one par as he also posted a 47, and Gage Retz completed the team score with a 50.
Derek Rammel shot 52, and Elijah Kahlig had a 54.
The Tribe junior varsity team lost 193-222 with Chad Schroer posting the top score of 48.

Bruins defeat SA
HARTFORD CITY — The South Adams girls golf team lost 209-246 Tuesday to the host Blackford Bruins at Blackford Country Club.
Kristen Lehman led the Starfires, recording a par on the par-3 fourth hole.
She also had three bogeys on the way to a 50.
Carley Weeks-Foy of Blackford was the medalist with a 47.
No other Starfire broke 60 as Sam Schwartz and Abbie Fisher each followed Lehman with 65s. Adrienne Prusley added a 66, and Kristal All shot 71.[[In-content Ad]]
