Jay School Board has a new president.
Board member Doug Inman was unanimously elected president at Thursday’s special session organizational meeting.
Board member Bryan Alexander was elected vice president, and board member Jay Halstead was re-elected as secretary.
Inman was the board’s former vice president.
Also Thursday, new board members Greg Wellman and Michael Masters and Frank Vormohr, who is beginning his second term, were sworn in by board attorney Phil Frantz.
In other business, board members:
•Re-appointed Frantz as the board’s attorney. He will be paid $9,600 for the year. He also will be paid additional fees for work completed outside of board meetings.
•Re-appointed Brad DeRome as the Jay School Corporation treasurer and Jane Carlin as Jay School Corporation deputy treasurer.
•Authorized Jay Schools superintendent Barbara Downing, DeRome and Carlin to have access to the board’s two safe deposit boxes at First National Bank and MainSource Bank, both in Portland. The boxes contains deeds and abstracts owned by the corporation, DeRome said.
•Appointed board members Michael Shannon and Halstead to the negotiations committee.
•Appointed Inman to the insurance committee.
•Appointed Alexander to the teacher’s 401 (a) Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association committee.
•Appointed Alexander to serve as the corporation’s legislative liaison on the Indiana School Boards Association.
•Set the board’s meeting schedule for the next year.
The board is set to meet on July 19, Aug. 9, Aug. 23, Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 20 in 2004. Meetings in 2005 are set for Jan. 24, Feb. 28, March 28, April 25, May 23 and June 27.[[In-content Ad]]
