Intern joins CR for summer

Ball State University student Samantha Blankenship will serve as an intern with The Commercial Review this summer.
Blankenship, 21, a Muncie resident and Ball State senior, is working toward bachelor’s degrees in journalism — specializing in photography — and English literature. She is a photographer for The Daily News, Ball State’s student-run newspaper.
Blankenship graduated from Southside High School in 2010 and has been interested in photojournalism since her sophomore year.
She also works at Pizza King in Muncie and spends her free time outdoors, taking photographs, playing tennis and riding her bike.

plans expansion
Representatives of FCC (Adams) recently approached the Berne City Council to announce its second major expansion in the last three years.
FCC attorney Time Baker said the automotive supply company had submitted plans for a 75,500 square-foot addition at the Parr Road site to the Berne Plan Commission. He said the investment would include $6.3 million in property improvements and $35 million in new equipment, which will be in place by March 2015.
The expansion is expected to add 50 new jobs at the plant and $1.5 million to the company’s annual payroll.

The Portland Foundation recently announced Mackenzie McIntire as its intern for the summer.
McIntire, a student at Indiana University, Bloomington and a Portland native, is majoring in not-for-profit management and will be taking care of the administrative assistant responsibilities at the foundation.
Financial staff welcomes Wuebker
Fort Recovery resident Kelsey Wuebker has joined Ault, Henderson and Lewis CPAs staff.
Wuebker, a December graduate from Wright State University, has a degree in accounting. She will provide payroll, tax and accounting services with Ault, Henderson and Lewis’ several locations. These locations include Celina, Greenville and Englewood.
Wuebker is also working on a master’s degree in business.
ServSafe Class offered
The Parkview Regional Medical Center and the Adams County Health Department are offering a two-day ServSafe food handler certification class on June 26-27 at Bellmont Middle School, 1200 E. North Adams Drive, Decatur.
The classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Indiana law requires all food establishments to have at least one certified food handler on staff. This $150 course, established by the Indiana Restaurant Association, will certify a person for five years, as well as allow individuals to recertify on the second day for $50. Checks should be made payable to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Class instructors include Trisha Hockemeyer, a clinical nutrition manager and registered dietician at Parkview Regional Medical Center, and Joe Spaulding, food inspector and training officer for the food program of Adams County Health Department. The new Townsend Corporation headquarters will be located on 9 acres of land at 1120 W. Jackson St., Muncie, just west of downtown.
In return for bringing new jobs to the city, the Muncie City Council approved a tax abatement that could save the company $150,000 in property taxes.
The new owner has agreed to make $1 million in improvements as the facility is remodeled.
With a workforce of more than 1,700 employees in 30 states, the Townsend Corporation provides a wide range of services, expertise and innovative technology in specialized core markets including vegetation management, power line clearance, custom blending and repackaging of herbicides, electric utility line construction, storm-damage relief, and process automation.
