Intern joins CR staff

A Ball State University student will be spending the summer as an intern with The Commercial Review.
Sharon Hernandez, Muncie, will be working for the next 10 weeks in the news department at the CR.
Hernandez is a senior student at Ball State University who is double majoring in journalism and Spanish.
She has worked at the Ball State Daily News covering the downtown beat and heading the news desk from August 2010 to May 2011.
Former president sued
Marsh Supermarkets is suing former president Don Marsh, claiming fraud and breach of contract over personal expenses.
The supermarket chain says Marsh had used company dollars to engage in extramarital relationships with several women. The company’s new court filings allege that Marsh had used the company plane and made lavish trips using company money. Marsh’s attorney, Andrew McNeil, said his client wouldn’t comment on the allegations.
Finance class
Westlawn elementary students learned about savings and spending during a new program designed by Purdue Extension.
A group of 40 third grade students participated in different interactive sessions as part of the program called “Captain Cash,” to learn about good financing habits.
First Merchants Bankand Mainsource Bank partnered with Purdue Extension in the program.
Disaster relief given
Tyson Foods announced it will be sending food, ice and cooking teams to Joplin, Mo., and Reading, Kan., to help in the aftermath of tornadoes that hit the two communities last weekend.
Cooking teams from six Tyson plant locations have traveled to Joplin, Mo.
The company sent two truckloads of meat and one truckload of ice to the community.
