Invention aids chicken houses

Business Roundup

Two Fort Recovery men have invented a device to make working in high-rise chicken houses safer and easier.
Brian Jutte and Tim McCain have created the Poultry Cruiser, a four-wheeled cart that allows its operator to drive down narrow aisles in chicken houses. The device received a U.S. patent in August.
“It’s just a safer, easier way (to reach high areas in chicken houses),” Jutte told the Celina Daily Standard. “It’s worker friendly.
The Cruiser, which retails for about $4,500, stands over 6 feet tall and is powered by a 24-volt battery.
Jutte and McCain recently sold their first two units to Minnich Poultry, Portland.
Poultry Cruisers are being tested at Wenning Poultry, Fort Recovery, and one cruiser reportedly ran for five days on one charge.
Jutte and McCain will be taking three of their cruisers to the international Poultry Expo in Atlanta next month.
Jutte told The Daily Standard he hoped to be able to generate some orders at the expo. “We’re going to let people climb on it and drive it,” he said.

Goodhew roofing gets incentives
Goodhew Roofing Services, Ridgeville, recently received support from Randolph County government officials to encourage continued success and job growth at the company.
The Randolph County Board of Commissioners approved a $99,000 job creation incentive from Economic Development Income Tax funds. This is an incentive of $3,000 per job for 33 jobs. The company is expected to create these jobs over the next 24 months.
Randolph Economic Development Corporation Consulting Director said the money will be used to purchase equipment to manufacture metal roofing, for the purchase of vehicles, and working capital.[[In-content Ad]]
