ISU organization wins five awards

Julie Alig, Portland, who attends Indiana State University in Terre Haute and is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma chapter, recently attended its 38th annual conference in at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
Gamma Iota Sigma won five awards, the Chapter Management Award, the Membership Development Award, the Black and Gold Award Community Service Pairing with Industry Award, the Black and Gold Award for Gamma Iota Sigma Rush Week and the Black and Gold Hugs and Kisses Award.
Alig is an insurance and risk management major.
Gamma Iota Sigma seeks to enhance the professionalism of students in the risk management, healthcare risk management and actuarial science programs.
Dean's list
Aaron P. McLaughlin and Kyle R. Frazee, both of Portland, were named to the dean's list for the October session at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima.

Sherry Ainsworth and Kelsi Wellman, both from Bryant; Kimberly Locke, Douglas Moon and Brian VanNuland, all from Dunkirk; Emily Steiner from Geneva; Beverly Durham, Brock Hambrock, Marjorie Hart, Ashley Lairson and Julie Norton, all from Portland; Jillian Poore from Redkey; James Doss and Ashley Hart, both from Ridgeville.
Santa to visit
Santa Claus will visit the Geneva Town Hall on Friday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The book reading group at Jay County Library is reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski. The group will meet on Dec. 21 at JCPL.

Holiday crafts can be made at the library on Saturday, Dec. 5, from noon until 3 p.m. for all ages.

The program "Mother Goose and Me" will be at the library on Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at 10:30 a.m. There will be stories, rhymes, movement and activities for preschool children.

Story times in December will be each Monday at 10 a.m. and each Tuesday at 1 p.m. Also holiday related story times and crafts will be held Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15.
