MUNCIE - The Patriots weren't perfect. But, they were the best.
Jay County High School's wrestling team finished with one blemish on their record at Saturday's Delta Duals, but still finished as the champions of the six-team event. It scored victories over Fort Wayne North Side (57-18), Greensburg (53-19), the host Eagles (45-21) and Adams Central (39-28) while suffering the lone loss to runner-up Greenwood (36-34).
Casey Kenney continued his outstanding start in his first season at 112 pounds. He posted a 5-0 record, running his undefeated streak to 19-0.
Caleb Culy (13) and Ben Theurer (135) were also perfect at 5-0 on the day, and Josh Lochtefeld and Cameron Pfeifer won three and two matches respectively for a sweep at 125 pounds.
Lucas Schmiesing was perfect in his two matches at 152 pounds.
Adding 4-1 marks for the day were Drake Meska (103) and Aaron Miller (145). Skyler Finnerty (140) and Brad Tipton (160) were each 3-2, and Michael Daniels (152) finished 2-1.[[In-content Ad]]
