Jay bests host Jets

GENEVA - Adam Gray was happy to return to the Limberlost.
Three days after winning the South Adams Invitational at the Golf Club of the Limberlost, the Jay County High School senior posted a 39 to earn match medalist honors. His effort Tuesday led the Patriot boys golf team to a 177-190 victory over the host Adams Central Flying Jets.
Gray, who shot 77 at Saturday's invitational, opened his round against Adams Central with four consecutive pars. He added a par on the 410-yard, par-4 16th hole at Limberlost, formerly Wabash Valley Golf Club, and finished at 4-over-par.
Adam Horn, also a senior, opened with a par on the 335-yard, par-4 10th hole. He added three more during his round to post a 41.
The top scorer for the Jets was Kaleb Davis with a 42.
Brad Horn had two pars in his round of 44 for the Patriots, and Isaac Poole followed with a 48. Drew Houck shot 53.
Junior varsity
Five of Jay County's six players shot 51 as the Patriots defeated Adams Central 201-215.
A.J. Fuksa, Seth Ainsworth and Justin Keller each had one par as they shared the best JV score with the Jets' Blake Pfeifer. Jacob Heitkamp and Richie Carducci also each shot 51, and Adam Coats finished at 53.[[In-content Ad]]
