Jay bowlers come up short

BLUFFTON — The Jay County High Rollers high school bowling team lost 11.5-8.5 Tuesday against Bellmont.
Jacob Coy had an outstanding night for Jay County and was the only player to earn individual points in each game. He carried the High Rollers to a game-one victory (965-935) with a 244, and added a 227 to win his second game.
Drew Wood was the only other Jay County player to earn a point, winning his opening game with a 177. Colby Cline rolled a 223 in the first game, tying with his Bellmont counterpart.
Chiefs, Eagles split
The East Jay and West Jay middle school boys basketball teams split games Tuesday as they battled at Jay County High School. East Jay’s Chiefs took the eighth grade game 42-22 while the West Jay Eagles won the seventh-grade contest 32-22.
EJMS ran out to a 35-14 lead through three quarters of the eighth grade game as it improved to 6-2. Justin Dirksen scored 12 points, and Zach Pryor followed with eight.
West Jay had a five-point lead at the half of the seventh grade game and shut out the Chiefs in the third quarter. Thomas Hahn led East Jay with six points.
EJMS sixth rolls
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team rolled to a 45-10 victory Tuesday over Union City Westside.
Taylor Homan racked up 12 points for the Chiefs, who outscored Westside 15-0 in the second quarter. Stormi Canterbury added eight points.
EJMS won the B team game 26-8 with Alison Jutte scoring 14 points.[[In-content Ad]]
