Jay Co. golfers drop two

WINCHESTER - The Jay County High School boys golf team posted a score of 183 Tuesday as it fell to the Randolph Southern Rebels (168) and the Union City Indians (170).

Drew Houck turned in three pars for the Patriots on Winchester Golf Club's "Beeson nine", playing even on the second, fourth and fifth holes. Levi Gough and Ian Gough of Randolph Southern and Dallas Doppler from Union City shared medalist honors as they shot 41.

Ritchie Carducci had one par as he shot 45, and Jacob Heitkamp turned in three pars. Heitkamp's effort included back-to-back pars on the 388-yard, par-4 fifth hole and the 458-yard, par-5 sixth.

Seth Ainsworth completed the JCHS team score with a 50, and Mitchel Rigby shot 52.

Starfire golfers fall

BLUFFTON - South Adams High School's boys golf was no match for seventh-ranked Norwell Tuesday, falling 175-241 to the host Knights at Timber Ridge Golf Club.

Stuart Poulson turned in the best score for the Starfires with a 45. Alex Habegger followed with a 47, and Mark Muselman shot 52.

Nick Baumgartner rounded out the team score with a 63, and Daniel Heckard shot 64.

Waters wins fourth

SALA BAGANZA, Italy - Another start brought another win for Mitch Waters.

The 2002 Jay County High School graduate tossed four scoreless innings as the Sala Baganza Baseball Club defeated Heila Poviglio Bas 4-0. He struck out three batters while giving up just four hits and a walk in six innings.

Waters ranks second along with four other pitchers in Serie A2, the second-highest level of professional baseball in Italy, with his four victories and and third with a 1.23 ERA. He is fourth in opponents batting average at .169.[[In-content Ad]]
