Jay Co. keglers clobber Heritage (11/18/04)

PORTLAND — The Jay County High Rollers bowling teams had a good night Wednesday, with the boys team staying perfect while the girls team won its second match in a row. The teams clobbered Heritage at the Brown Bowl in Portland by matching 17-3 scores.
The boys team improved to 3-0, opening competition with a 99-point game-one win, 1,029-930 for a 7-3 lead. It took all 10 points in the second game by an even more dominating 990-842 score.
Cody Wright owned the night as he rolled a 450, including a 268 game. Preston Shoopman followed with a 410, and Cory Mock rolled a 394.
The girls team took nine out of 10 points in the first game of their match as they outrolled Heritage 789-698. The High Rollers got a challenge in the second game, but still won 693-671 for the victory.
Summer Roush rolled a 208 game as she led Jay County with a 360 series. Autumn Shepherd had a 329, and Olivia Meehan came up with the next best game with a 155.
Volleyball tryouts
The sign-up sessions and tryouts for the Randolph County YMCA club volleyball program will be held in December.
Registration for the fifth through eighth grade players will be Sunday, Dec. 5. A meeting for players and parents will be held at 4 p.m.
High school player registration will be Sunday, Dec. 12. The meeting for players and parents will be from 4 to 4:30 p.m., followed by a tryout session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Fort Recovery Schools are looking for several coaches.
The Indians need both high school and junior high track coaches for the 2005 season. Those interested should contact FRHS athletics director Barb Sautbine at (419) 375-4111 or [email protected].
Coaching clinic
Jay County High School will host a coaching clinic for IHSAA certification in December.
The clinic, which will be Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open to the public. Those who complete the course will be eligible for IHSAA certification to become a high school coach.
The course will cover liability and safety, sport nutrition, competition, sportsmanship and violence, and IHSAA guidelines. The cost is $25.
