The Jay County Summer Swim Team dropped to its second defeat of the season Monday, suffering a 612.5-511.5 loss to South Adams.
Despite the loss, Cori Vormohr had another record-breaking effort, this time bettering her own mark. She swam to victory in the 11-12-year-old girls long freestyle in a new team and pool record time of 1:06.73.
Vormohr added wins in the individual medley and the breaststroke.
An honorary team member for the night snapped another team record.
Samantha Stump, who is in Jay County visiting relatives, took to the pool for a new 15-and-older girls individual medley record. She finished in a time of 2:42.55.
Stump also won three events for Jay County, with other victories coming in the breaststroke and short freestyle.
Alysha Miller added three wins for the 9-10-year-old girls in the long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle, and Derrick Lee won the 15-and-older boys butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle.
Winning two events apiece were Lucas Holcomb, Brittany Teagle, Ashley Imel and Matthew Peterson. Single victories went to Rachel vogler, Annie Vormohr, Ivy Simons, Shane Stein, Steven Kelly, Shelby Rines and Nick Ehrhart.
Jay County’s next meet will be at Winchester Monday at 6 p.m.
J-R tumbles twice
The Jay-Randolph Bulldogs American Legion baseball team had a couple of leads against Sidney, Ohio Sunday, but couldn’t hold on to win either game of the double-header.
J-R saw a 7-4 lead crumble as Sidney totalled eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings of game one to take the 12-7 win. The Bulldogs again led the second game 3-1 after a run in the top of the fourth inning, but allowed nine in the bottom of the frame on the way to a 13-3 defeat.
Andy Swanagan took the loss in game one. Daniel Bogue pitched 41/3 innings and allowed ten runs — nine earned — on 11 hits on the way to the game-two defeat.
Chris Myers of Jay County, Bryan Dodd and Kyle Hunt each had a pair of hits in the first game. Hunt scored twice and drove in two runs.
Swanagan had one hit and a pair of RBIs in game two.
Meeting delayed
The Fort Recovery School Board meeting scheduled for Monday was postponed, and is now scheduled to take place Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.
At the meeting the school board will vote on the recommendation that Jeff Roessner become the new varsity girls basketball coach. Roessner was tabbed for the position last week by a four-person committee, which included athletics director Barb Sautbine, principal Ed Snyder and superintendent Pat Niekamp.

The Jay County boys soccer team will have a call out meeting Monday, July 7 at 6 p.m.
