The team, which is now 3-11 with a pair of wins over Southside, started the day with 5-0 losses to the Connersville Spartans and the Anderson Highland Scots.

Carissa Wilkins came up big in the JCHS win, getting her first No. 1 singles victory. Wilkins, who moved up one spot in place of the injured Angie Stults, defeated Aubrey Green of Southside 6-2, 6-2.

The other two points in the Patriots victory came from the team’s doubles duos.

At No. 1 doubles, Jessica Muhlenkamp and Megan Knittle topped Jessica Dickinson and Kayla Holt 6-2, 6-4. Tiffani Bickel and Cindy Muhlenkamp rolled in their second set at No. 2 doubles for a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Erica Smith and Heather Flowers.

Jay County’s closest matches in each of the shutout losses came from Bickel and Muhlenkamp. They fell 6-2, 6-2 to Heather Nobbe and Taylor Issacs of Connersville and lost to the Scots’ Heather Pardue and Emily Jones 6-2, 6-1.[[In-content Ad]]
