Jay Co. tankers pick up victory

MONROE - Nine members of the Jay County Summer Swim Team each won three events Tuesday to lead a victory over host North Adams Central.
Three of those triple winners came in the 15-and-older division, with Aaron Hudson first in the boys butterfly, individual medley and backstroke while Neal Fennig won the long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle. Mary Hudson added victories in the girls long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle.
In the 13-14-year-old girls division, Katy Smeltzer won the long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle while Caitlin Mark took the top spot in the butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke. Alex Bader took the 9-10-year-old girls butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke, and Audrey Shreve finished first in the long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle.
Cameron Henry earned top finishes in the 8-and-younger boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle, and Sok Vormohr finished first in the 11-12-year-old boys long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.
Eliza Bader, Kearsten Myers, Sophie Bader, Anne Vormohr, Caven Schricker and Eme Miller each added two wins apiece.
SA loses 2 coaches
BERNE - Two coaches recently resigned their positions with South Adams High School.
Kip Jones stepped down as girls basketball coach after two seasons to take a position as an assistant for the IPFW women's team. He was 10-31 in two seasons at SAHS.
Cindy Greer also resigned as girls tennis coach after 17 seasons.
Hull breaks record
FORT RECOVERY - Perry Hull set a record and Carley Stone won three events Tuesday, but it was not enough as the Fort Recovery Summer Swim Team fell 784-684 to the Versailles Tiger Sharks.
Hull broke his own team record in the 15-and-older 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.36 to shatter his old mark by more than 1.5 seconds. He was also first in the 100 individual medley and 50 freestyle.
Stone posted first-place finishes in the 9-10-year-old girls 50 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 100 individual medley.
Valerie Muhlenkamp, Alexis Bubp and Ava Bubp added two wins apiece in girls events, and Aidan Sheridan, Owen Sheridan, Gavin Thobe, Gabe Grieshop and Marshall Hull each picked up a pair of victories on the boys side.[[In-content Ad]]
