Jay Co. netters fall to Norwell

OSSIAN — The Norwell Knights defeated the Jay County High School boys tennis team 5-0 Monday in a rescheduled match from Aug. 22.
Norwell’s Jordan Dickedy beat Jay County’s Alex Krieg 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and the Patriots’ Nick Leuthold fell to Bryant Barger in No. 2 singles action by the same score.
In No. 3 singles, Jay County’s Alex Clark fell to Cody Shively, 6-3, 6-3.
Evan Mathias and Zach Pryor lost to Brandon Burch and Alex Hunter 6-3, 6-2.
In the closest match of the contest, the No. 2 doubles duo of Jake Schwieterman and Kody Degler fell to Noah Todias and Trevor Wilson 6-7 (0-7), 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
The Patriots next match is at 5 p.m. today at Muncie Central.

Patriot JV unbeaten
The Jay County junior varsity football team improved to 3-0 with a 33-6 win over the Muncie Southside Rebels on Monday.
Thomas Noble, Austin Fairchild, Levi Stant and Drew Huffman all scored touchdowns for the Patriots.
Jay County has outscored its opponents 103-26 on the season, including a 48-0 blowout of Blackford Sept. 3.[[In-content Ad]]
