Jay County boys defeat SA, Bellmont (03/19/07)

The Jay County Middle School Swim Team defeated Bellmont's boys and girls Tuesday after getting a split against South Adams Monday. Jay County's boys defeated South Adams while the girls team suffered its first loss of the year to the Starfires.

Neal Fennig led the boys team to its wins, scoring four individual victories in the two meets. He took the 100-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke against South Adams and followed up with wins Wednesday in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Richard Osterholt chipped in two victories against South Adams, taking first place in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Wiley Young earned wins against Bellmont in the 50 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Other wins against South Adams came from Ben Hemmelgarn in diving and Lucas Holcomb in the 50 butterfly.

Osterholt took the 200 freestyle against Bellmont while Holcomb was first in the 400 freestyle and Alex Sutton won the 100 individual medley.

Michaela Long and Laura Bowen earned four of the five individual wins in the girls squad's victory over Bellmont. Long was first in the 400 freestyle and 100 backstroke while Bowen captured victories in the 100 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

Lynne Inman posted the other individual triumph with her win in the 50 butterfly.

Long finished first in the 100 individual medley and 100 breaststroke against South Adams, earning half of her team's first-place results.

Megan Taylor added a win in diving, and Inman was first in the 100 backstroke.[[In-content Ad]]
