Jay County FFA having book drive

Taking Note

Jay County FFA is having a children’s book drive through October 30. Gently used or unused books may be dropped off at Jay County Public Library, Dunn Family Dental Care, Clear Chiropractic and Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Union, all in Portland.
The books will be donated to the Jay County Department of Child Services for children in need.     

Livestock Expo
Several area students will enter their animals in the 38th annual North American International Livestock Exposition in November at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.
Wesley Price, Dunkirk, shorthorn plus; Kyle Garringer, Ridgeville, junior market lamb; Lauren Evans, Portland, market lamb; Tucker Pearson, Portland, market lamb; Katie Snyder, Portland, shorthorn, and Gabrielle Paxson, Pennville, market lamb.

Students of the month
West Jay Middle School
named its Students of the Month for September.
In sixth grade was Kaitlin Ford, the daughter of Dwane and Terri Ford.
In seventh grade was Jacob Geesaman, the son of Jeff and Lisa Geesaman.
In eighth grade was Josh Vaughn, the son of Terry and Jennifer Vaughn.

Library news
An after school special will be held Friday, Oct. 14, at Jay County Public Library for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The program will begin at 2:45 p.m. and will include a snack, stories shared and crafts. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
— Trick or Reading, a childrens’ reading and activity program, continues at the library and activity calendars may be picked up through Oct. 15. Prizes will be given for books read and activities completed.
— A murder mystery game “Deadly Ever After” will be Friday, Oct, 28, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the library. Call the library to register.[[In-content Ad]]
