Jay County takes first loss of summer (06/18/04)

The Jay County Summer Swim Team lost its first dual meet of the season Thursday, dropping a 682-511 decision to host South Adams. Jay County dropped to 4-1 with the defeat.
The Miller sisters picked up a quarter of Jay County’s 23 individual wins.
Emilee Miller grabbed three victories in the 9-10-year-old girls long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley. Alysha Miller took the 11-12-year-old girls long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle.
Aaron Hudson was the only other Jay County swimmer to win three events as he took the 11-12-year-old boys butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle.
Adding two wins apiece were Lucas Holcomb, Wiley Young and Derrick Lee. Sophie Bader, Katy Smeltzer, Amelia Freeman, Caleb Hummel, Michelle Landfair, Shelby Rines, Sam Miller and Ashley Imel each picked up one victory.
Track awards
The Jay County boys track team recently held its awards banquet to honor athletes from the 2004 season.
Earning four-year letters were seniors Paul Imel and David Stith. Three-year letters went to Adam Grile, Greg Current and Adam May.
