Jay County tankers dominate Adams Central (02/15/05)

The Jay County Middle School Swim Teams dominated the Adams Central Jets Monday for a pair of victories. The boys team won all but one event for a 117-35 win, and the girls team finished on top 108-79.

Chance Milligan, Thomas Bowen and Lance VanSkyock each won a pair of events for the boys team, and seven different swimmers each earned a single victory on the girls side.

Milligan was first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle, Bowen took the 200 individual medley and the 400 freestyle and VanSkyock won the 50 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Steven Kelly added a victory in diving, and Colton Smith was first in the 100 backstroke.

Ivy Simons and Cori Vormohr took care of the long distance races for the girls team, winning the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle respectively. Kelci Reed won the 200 individual medley, Michelle Landfair was first in the 50 butterfly and Lauren Murrell hit the wall first in the 100 breaststroke.

Caitlyn Ruchgy took the 50 freestyle win, and Megan Taylor was first in diving.

Fort tickets

Tickets to Fort Recovery’s boys basketball game Friday at Lima Central Catholic will go on sale Thursday.

They will be sold in the high school office Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will also be available Friday from 8 to 11:15 a.m.

Advance tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the door will be $6.

Jay needs coach

Jay County High School is accepting applications for the position of varsity volleyball coach.

Umpire classes

The Midwestern Athletic Conference will host a softball and baseball umpiring class next month.

The class will be held at the Education Complex in Celina, Ohio Feb. 21 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Those who pass the class can become licensed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
