Jay County tankers fall to Northside (02/28/06)

MUNCIE — The Jay County middle school girls swim team stayed close Monday night, but fell 95-86 to Muncie Northside. The boys team also came up short in a 116-62 defeat.
With three swimmers missing because of illnesses, the Jay County girls came away with four victories.
Michelle Landfair won the 100-yard butterfly in 1-minute, 20.55 seconds. Lynne Inman was first in the 100 backstroke in 1:25.94, and Michael Long took the 100 breaststroke victory in 1:21.94.
Megan Taylor was first in diving with 97.10 points. She was followed by teammates Megan Sawyer and Elaine Hemmelgarn.
Wiley Young scored the only victory for the boys team, taking the 500 freestyle in 7:05.73.
Daleville tops Eagles
DUNKIRK — West Jay Middle School’s wrestling team came up with five victories, but fell 54-42 to the Daleville Broncos Monday.
Dustin Easton wasted little time in his win, finishing the 125-pound match in 19 seconds. All of the Eagle pins were quick as Keri VanSkyock (152) won in 20 seconds, followed by Justin Ellis (135) in 37 seconds, Sam Pitman (85) in 40 seconds and Ethan Lightner (160) in 53 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
