The sprinkles of rain didn’t last long Wednesday night at the Portland Pool. But the Jay County Summer Swim Team did storm over Union City.
Jay County remained perfect in dual meets this season as it defeated Union City 638-203.
Alysha Miller, Aaron Hudson, Kristen Foreman, Sam Miller and Derrick Lee powered Jay County as they each won three events. The team won 49 out of the 57 individual events, and took eight out of nine relays.
Miller grabbed her victories in the 11-12-year-old girls butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle. Hudson won the same three events in the same age group on the boys side.
Foreman and Miller dominated the 13-14-year-old division, each winning the butterfly. Foreman also took the girls long freestyle and short freestyle, and Miller was first in the boys individual medley and breaststroke.
Lee took care of the 15-and-older boys division with victories in the long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley.
Jay County also had a host of swimmers win a pair of events, inclduing four in the 9-10-year-old division.
Emilee Miller took first in the girls long freestyle and backstroke, and Mary Hudson won the individual medley and short freestyle. Lucas Holcomb picked up victories in the boys long freestyle and butterfly, and Wiley Young added wins in the backstroke and individual medley.
Annie Vormohr added a pair of triumphs in the 8-and-younger girls division in the individual medley and short freestyle. Levi Hummel finished on top in the boys individual medley and breaststroke.
Shelby Rines rolled to wins in the 13-14-year-old girls backstroke and breaststroke.
Also picking up individual wins for Jay County were Caitlin Mark, Sophie Bader, Katy Smeltzer, Amelia Freeman and Zane Shreve in the 8-and-younger division; Laura Bowen, Jocelyn Mann and Caleb Hummel in the 9-10-year-old division; Mallory Poole, Colton Smith, Neal Fennig and Mikel Miller in the 11-12-year-old division; Ivy Simons, Nathan Cain and Joey Miller in the 13-14-year-old division; and Briana Louth, Krisa Sipe, Nikisha Imel, Matt Eldridge and Nick Ehrhart in the 15-and-older division.
Jay County swims again today at South Adams at 6 p.m.

The Jay County Summer Swim Team will visit the Catalina Swim Club of Muncie for the first time Tuesday.
To get to Catalina, take Ind. 67 into Muncie and turn right on McGalliard Road. Follow McGalliard west to the Ball State football stadium, and turn left on Tillotson Avenue.
Take Tillotson for 1.4 miles, and turn right on Riverside Avenue. Follow Riverside for 0.7 miles, and turn right on Clarkdale Drive.
