The Jay County Summer Swim Team was hot in the pool Tuesday, beating Union City 750 to 379 on an unusually cool June evening.
The team took 61 of the 80 total events, winning 18 of 20 relays and claiming 43 individual events. The summer swim team improved to 2-3 on the season with the victory.
Jay County's best performances came in the 13-14 age group, as Hayley Confer, Caitlin Mark and Zane Shreve picked up triple wins for the team.
Confer got wins in the long free, backstroke and breaststroke for the girls, with Mark scooping up the other individual victories in the age group in the butterfly and short free, and the IM.
Shreve grabbed his wins in the butterfly, short free and IM for his triple.
Nine Jay swimmers nabbed double first place finishes.
For the girls, Elizabeth McDowells won the long free and backstroke while Eliza Bader took the butterfly and short free in the 8 and under group.
Alex Bader grabbed firsts in the breastroke and short free for the 9-10 division. In the 11-12 girls group, Sophie Bader won the long free and backstroke and Anne Vormohr won in the IM and short free. Eme Miller took the butterfly and IM and Mary Hudson claimed the back and breaststroke in the 15 and over field.
For the boys, Christopher McDowell won the butterfly and backstroke while Tayler Smeltzer scooped up wins in the IM and breaststroke in the 8 and under category.
Sixteen swimmers had one first place finish, including David Ostrowski, Daniel Ostrowski, Sydney Mathias, Audrey Shreve, Rebekah Corwin, Noah Hummel, Katy Smeltzer, Ashley Mark, Brent Milholland, Zach James, Nathan Cain, Aaron Hudson, Sam Miller, Neal Fennig, Caleb Hummel and Wiley Young.
