Jay duo wins auto skills contest
Taking Note
Jay County High School students Josh Loyd and Dylan Sutter took first place on Friday in the Ford AAA Student Auto Skills Contest State Finals, each receiving more than $62,000 in scholarships and $500 in tools.
The duo competed against nine other teams from Indiana and were the first to get their bugged car running. It took them seven minutes and they finished all repairs to the car in 49 minutes, which was almost 20 minutes ahead of the second-place team.
They had a perfect car upon inspection, which was one of only two in the contest.
Josh and Dylan are students in the auto service class at South Adams High School.
Josh was a previous winner of the state competition and now has more than $114,000 in scholarships.
The two will compete in June at Nationals in Dearborn Mich.
