The Jay County swimmers were happy to spread the wealth.
With 27 different athletes turning in victories, the Jay County Summer Swim Team cruised to an 800-307 victory Tuesday over North Adams Central at Portland Pool. It took the top spot in 18 out of 20 relays on the way to its sixth straight win.
Jay County swept both the 8-and-younger and 13-14-year-old divisions with Ian Reynolds, Sok Vormohr, Mara Bader and Eliza Bader leading the way.
The Bader sisters each won three events in the 8-and-younger division, with Eliza taking the long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke while Mara was first in the backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle. Reynolds earned wins in the 13-14-year-old boys backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle, and Vormohr took the long freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke.
Damian Hicks was first in the 8-and-younger boys individual medley and short freestyle, and Konner Sommers took the butterfly and backstroke. Ezekiel Corwin and Elayna Paro completed the sweep with victories in the boys long freestyle and girls butterfly respectively.
In the 13-14-year-old girls division, Sophie Bader won the long freestyle and backstroke while Anne Vormohr claimed victories in the breaststroke and short freestyle. Sydney Mathias was first in the individual medley, and Ashley Mark won the butterfly.
Mary Hudson picked up first-place finishes in the 15-and-older girls long freestyle, backstroke and individual medley, and Alex Sutton won the boys short freestyle, long freestyle and backstroke. Alex Bader also added three wins, taking the top spot in the 11-12-year-old girls breaststroke, backstroke and long freestyle.
Other double winners were Alex LeMaster, Christian Vormohr, Dylan Friddle and Lilly Clemmons. Kaitlyn Dow, Elizabeth McDowell, Daniel Ostrowski, Tayler Smeltzer, Zane Shreve, Mark Habegger, Eme Miller and Avery Vormohr added one victory apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
