Jay first in conference
Jay County Summer Swim Team
BERNE — The Jay County Summer Swim team set five records as it closed its season Saturday by winning the Wabash Valley Conference Championships.
Jay County scored 2,418 points to finish ahead of host South Adams (2,279), Wells Community (1,954) and North Adams Central (1,068).
Anne Vormohr was part of four of the records as she set team and conference marks in the 13-14-year-old girls backstroke and individual medley. She was also first in the short freestyle.
Vormohr teamed with Sophie Bader, Katy Smeltzer and Ashley Mark for team and conference records in the medley and freestyle relays. Bader added a team record in the long freestyle.
Eliza Bader earned wins in the 8-and-younger girls long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley while Alex Bader took first in the 9-10-year-old girls butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle.
Adding two wins apiece were Lilly Clemmons, Eme Miller, Neal Fennig and Sophie Bader. Single wins came from Quin Blakely, Sydney Mathias, Alex LeMaster and Wiley Young.[[In-content Ad]]
