HARTFORD CITY — Led by a pair of sophomores, the Jay County girls track team won the Blackford Invitational Friday.
Amanda Johnson and Erika Hunt each won championships as the Patriots posted a winning total of 83 points. It was a tight battle as New Haven (79.5) took second followed by Anderson Highland (77.5) in third and the host Bruins (75).
Joseph Vormohr won a pair of titles for the JCHS boys, who scored 64 points to finish fourth. The host Bruins won easily with 132 points, and New Haven and Anderson Highland tied for second with 86.
Hunt turned in the best time of her career by more than a second to win the 300-meter hurdles. She finished in 51.44 seconds, bettering her previous best of 52.55 set Tuesday.[[In-content Ad]]
