Jordan McBride and Joe Imel picked up the only win Tuesday for the Jay County High School boys tennis team, which lost match 4-1 to the Bellmont Braves.
Imel and McBride took the opening two games at No. 1 doubles and rolled through the first set. Devin Amecker and Kyle Smith of Bellmont stayed closer in the second half, but the Patriot pair finished off a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Tylor Smith pushed Kodee McIntosh to three sets at No. 3 singles, but dropped the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.
JCHS (2-14), which has dropped 11 straight by an overall score of 49-6, won just a single game in the other three matches. Jared Valentine and the team of Seth Ainsworth and Austin Cowan lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles respectively, and Brad Leuthold dropped the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-0.
Junior varsity
Matthew Shrack and Landry Inman came through with the victories for Jay County in a 6-2 loss.
Shrack rolled to an 8-3 victory at No. 5 singles over Amrit Gill. In the No. 4 singles match, Inman defeated Nathan Brune 8-4.
Evan Ryder forced a tiebreaker at No. 3 singles only to fall 8-7 (7-3) to Greg Larrabee.[[In-content Ad]]
