Jay native named law firm partner

Former Portland resident Whitney Mosby was elected to the partnership of Bingham McHale LLP, Indianapolis, effective Jan. 1.
Mosby, the daughter of Jay County attorney Bill Hinkle, concentrates her practice on creditor's rights and bankruptcy. She is joined by Mike Limrick, Kenneth Munson and Rafael Sanchez as new partners of the firm.

Home sales in the Midwest vaulted by 58 percent during November as around 106,000 sales were completed in the 11-state region.
Twelve major cities in the Midwest showed increases, up to a 94 percent increase in Omaha, Neb. Seven cities also reported increased in median sale prices.

Mike Nixon, owner of Nixon's Automotive Engineering and Snow Removal, rural Portland, was appointed as Technical Advisor Coordinator for the Pontiac-Oakland Club International, the largest Pontiac club in the world.
Nixon will oversee the POCI to maintain quality control and provide technical assistance. He has served as online technical forums moderator since its inception. He also moderates the Performance Years Pontiac online forum, with more than 25,000 members.
CEO salary
The Associated Press reported that Tyson Foods Inc. interim CEO Leland Tollett earned $533,459 in 2009.
Tollett, 72, came in as interim to guide the company through a slump caused by high feed prices and decreasing restaurant demand. Tollett received a salary of $477,652 and including additional benefits such as stock purchase, retirement savings, use of company aircraft and market earnings. He will also receive $300,000 a year to consult with the company until his death.
Expansion
Mursix Corp., Muncie, will invest nearly $12 million in an expanded location, creating 150 to 250 more jobs.
The company is planning to move from its current location at Bethel Avenue and Morrison Road to the Park One/332 industrial park. Mursix, which has six divisions including Twoson Tool, will double or triple its payroll after making the expansion move.

Walgreens saw a 20 percent increase in quarterly profits on the shoulders of fall flu shots. The company administered 5.4 million flu shots between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30. Walgreens saw $489 million in earnings up from $408 million the year before.
