Jay native to appear on 'Jeopardy!'
Taking Note
Jay County native Sally Ronald will be appearing on the popular TV game show Jeopardy this spring.
Ronald was in California this week for a taping session. Her path to the show began with an online test. She was invited to participate in auditions in Chicago last year and was contacted to be a contestant last month.
A 2004 graduate of Jay County High School, she received her bachelor's degree in Russian and Slavic studies from Indiana University in 2008. She is currently completing work on her master's degree in Eastern European studies at IU Bloomington, where she is a graduate assistant.
Sally is the daughter of Jack and Connie Ronald, Portland.
The shows taped this week will air the week of May 31. Contestants maintain a pledge of secrecy about how well they do on the show until episodes are broadcast.
Jeopardy airs on WANE, channel 15, Fort Wayne, at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Limberlost contests
The Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva is sponsoring three contests in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Gene Stratton-Porter's book "Music of the Wild." The book is a tribute to the forest, the fields and the Limberlost Swamp.
A short story, photography and music composition competition will be held and entries should share Stratton-Porter's connection to nature.
