Local roundup

The record is theirs.

With a 5-0 victory over the Adams Central Flying Jets Tuesday, the Jay County High School boys tennis team tied the school record for regular-season wins. At 12-1 - with 11 straight wins - the Patriots can break the mark Thursday when they visit Winchester.

The overall mark of 15 - both records were set in 2005 - is also within reach as JCHS has three regular-season matches remaining before heading to Marion to defend its sectional title.

Mark Alberson and Adam Horn ran their season record to 15-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Evan Timmons and Josh Smith, and the No. 1 doubles duo of Heath Rigby and Thomas McCowan (11-5) blasted Kyle Andrews and Landon Wheeler 6-1, 6-0. Senior Josh Ludy cruised as well as he pushed his season mark to 14-2 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ethan Fiechter.
