Jay robotics teams qualify
Taking note
Jay County Robotics had four teams that competed in Zionsville on Saturday.
Two teams qualified for World competition in Dallas and two teams qualified for the Americas in Omaha, Neb.
Qualifying for World for Skills Challenge was team B consisting of Josh Mills, Jake Sutton, Brian Ingram and Cameron Schlechty.
Qualifying for Excellence in Design was team A consisting of Aaron Hudson, Derek Hughes, Caleb Hummel, Nathaniel Imel and Anthony Seelnacht.
Brain finalist
Lincoln Reichard, the son of former Portland residents Russ and Susan Reichard of Jasper, was chosen as a finalist in the Golden Lunchables Awards Contest and Sweepstakes.
Lincoln wrote an essay for the "Best Brain" category. He had to write about an accomplishment he achieved, what he learned and how he was changed.
He wrote about earning the most points in his school for Accelerated Reading and how he found comfort in books when his dad was deployed to Iraq for a year.
His prize will either be a trip to Orlando, Fla., or a $100 gift card to be spent on school supplies.

The Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association Inc. recently elected officers to three-year terms.
Elected were Jack Rouch, vice president; Jim Rush, engine; Ashley Theurer, camping; Carl Heidegger, east end; Lori Rouch, trading post; and John Theurer, east end.
Graduates
Jodi L. Wall, Portland, recently graduated from Harrison College in Muncie, with an associate's degree in medical records technology.
Roundtable meeting
Arts Place, Inc., will conduct a meeting of the Region Five Roundtable on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. at the Muncie Children's Museum, 515 S. High St.
