NOBLESVILLE — The Noblesville Invitational gave the Patriots a weekend they’d rather forget.
Jay County’s volleyball team lost each of its four tournament matches in two games, falling to Class 2A No. 7 Union County, Whiteland, Frankfort and Wes-Del to drop to 4-13 on the season. The squad managed to reach the 20-point barrier just twice in the eight games it played.
The closest match came against Wes-Del as the Patriots fell 25-20, 25-16. Markie Runyon had five kills and three digs in the defeat. Shelby Rines added three kills and three digs, and Erica Clark had five assists and two aces.
Jessica Muhlenkamp finished with three aces, two digs, a kill and an assist in the 25-13, 25-20 loss to Frankfort. Clark had seven assists, and Ashley Horn notched four digs. Sarah Mescher and Runyon totaled four and three digs respectively.
Rines paced the team as it fell 25-13, 25-19 to Whiteland as she finished with five aces, three kills and a dig. Theresa Reinhart had four kills, and Mescher and Runyon each added three kills. Clark posted seven assists.
Clark added five assists while Sharon Dirksen had three digs and Runyon had three blocks in the 25-11, 25-12 loss to Union County. Reinhart and Mescher each finished with two kills.
The Patriots return home Thursday to face Blackford after having played the last 11 matches on the road.[[In-content Ad]]
