Jay tops AC for 15th win (05/17/07)

MONROE - Jay County is swinging some big bats.

The Patriot softball team racked up double-digit runs for the second straight night Wednesday, defeating the Adams Central Jets 10-7. It beat Monroe Central 10-6 Tuesday.

Senior Shae Keller helped her own pitching effort by going 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base.

Amber Edmundson followed her two-homer game against Monroe Central with a couple of hits and two runs versus the Jets.

Kaelee Keller had two hits and two RBIs, and Trisha Champ tripled and drove in three runs. Pazia Speed also had two hits, and Morgan Locke finished with a pair of RBIs.

The victory was the 11th of the season for Keller as the Patriots improved to 15-7. She gave up seven runs - five earned - on nine hits and two walks.

JV baseball wins 15th

HARTFORD CITY - Jay County's junior varsity baseball team took control with a four-run fifth inning in an 8-4 victory Wednesday over the Blackford Bruins.

The Patriots improved to 15-3 behind a 3-for-4 night from Dalton McGill. He had one double and scored three of the JCHS runs.

Colton Lombardo racked up four hits, and Willie Mayfield, Phil Powell and Eric Homan each matched McGill with three.

Billy Wellman tossed five innings for the win, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out nine batters, and Mike Masters and Phil Powell finished off the victory in relief.[[In-content Ad]]
