Jay wrestlers lose to Marion
JCHS wrestling
MARION - Four of the Jay County High School wrestling team's five victories came on pins. But the Patriots dropped four of their final five matches Thursday in a 42-33 loss to the Marion Giants.
Nick Leonard (145) turned in the only first-period pin for the Patriots, who led 27-22 before dropping matches in the 152-, 160-, 171- (by forfeit) and 215-pound weight classes. He pinned Monty Nelums in 1 minute, 4 seconds.
Kyler Blowers opened the match with a pin in 3:22 over Desmond Wise in the heavyweight match. Kyle Garringer (189) pinned Travis Curry in 3:27, and Nathan Drumm (135) topped Wesley Alston in 5:41.
The only other victory for JCHS came from Drake Meska (130), who edged Chris Herring 7-6.
Junior varsity
Jay County dropped five out of seven matches in a 30-12 loss to the Giants.
Austin Bentz (130) picked up one of the Patriots' wins with a pin in 1:10 over Michael Culley. Lucas Boyer (189) pinned Nate Duke in 1:27.[[In-content Ad]]
