Jay's Bader sweeps at Noblesville (11/10/2008)

NOBLESVILLE - Sophie Bader turned in a another dominant weekend as she led the Jay County Winter Swim Team, which got at least one career-best swim from every athlete at the Noblesville Ice Breaker Meet.

Bader swept the 10-and-younger girls division, winning all 10 events. She also teamed with Cori Stone, Sidney Sprunger and Alex Bader for first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and joined Sprunger, Alex Bader and Ashley Mark to win the 200 medley relay.

Both relays have qualified for the age group state meet.

Four other Jay County swimmers finished in the top three, including Cori Stone, who was the runner-up in two events. Other top-three efforts came from Sprunger, Alex Bader and Anne Vormohr.

Bostic wins two

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Kelsi Bostic, who trains at Portland's Judan Judo, won a pair of championships Saturday at the All-Women's Championships.

Bostic, a Lapel High School junior, took the top spot in both the women's heavyweight and women's open divisions. She also earned Outstanding Player honors.

Kelsi Brockman finished second in the women's middleweight division for Judan. Abby Muhlenkamp was the runner-up in the 9-10-year-old lightweight division.

Adriane Culy picked up a pair of third-place efforts. Chiann Cupples, Betsi Gagle, Tasha Miller, Gabriella Minnich and Isabella Minnich each added a third-place effort.[[In-content Ad]]
