Last week at Muncie Southside: The Rebels returned an interception for a touchown on Jay County's opening drive on the way to a 41-22 win over the Patriots. Shayon Cork picked off three passes for Southside and ran for 97 yards and three TDs on just five carries. Zach Cash ran 12 times for 81 yards and a TD for JCHS.

Season leaders: Passing - Zach Cash - 29-of-74 for 316 yards and two TDs. Rushing - Michael Daniels - 76 carries for 432 yards and five TDs, Cash - 58 carries for 341 yards and four TDs. Receiving - Ben Vance - 16 receptions for 129 yards and two TDs. Defense - Dillon Easton - 42 tackles.

Spartans

Connersville, 1-4

Coach: Scott Snodgrass, 7th year

Conference: Olympic Athletic

Last week at Heritage Christian: Quarterback Jackson Kirtly carved up the Connersville defense for 255 yards and five TDs as the Spartans lost 59-0 to the top-ranked team in Class 2A. James Houck was on the receiving end for 213 yards and two TDs for the Eagles. Zach Hufferd led Connersville as he went 29-of-55 passing for 145 yards.

Season leaders: Passing - Zach Hufferd - 89-of-136 for 1,95 yards and 10 TDs. Rushing - Jordan Maple - 30 carries for 94 yards and one TD, Hufferd - 47 carries for 88 yards and one TD. Receiving - Maple - 29 receptions for 263 yards and one TD, John Sizemore - 20 receptions for 304 yards and four TDs. Defense - Matthew Harrison - 32 tackles.

Last season: Jay County rolled to a 47-26 win over the Spartans. Lance Franklin had three touchdowns - two rushing and one interception return - and ran for 147 yards. Sean Gardner of Connersville set a state record with 18 receptions for 150 yards while Zach Hufferd went 36-of-61 for 306 yards.

Game notes: JCHS has won 11 straight games over the Spartans ... Connersville has won more than one game just once since 1997 ... Against Franklin County this year the Patriots won 24-22 while the Spartans won 20-19.[[In-content Ad]]
