Last week at Heritage: Jay County allowed an 80-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff and turned the ball over five times in a 42-0 loss to Heritage. Wil Knapke had two TD runs and 128 yards on the grounds to go along with his kickoff return for Heritage, which also blocked a punt. The home team had three scoring drives of 25 yards or fewer. Cade Price led the JCHS offense with 15 carries for 97 yards.

Greenville Green Wave
Greenville, Ohio, 1-6
Coach: T.J. Powers, fourth year
Conference: Independent
Last week at Muncie Southside: Greenville jumped out to a 21-0, first-quarter lead on the Rebels, but lost 29-28 on a two-point conversion with 24 seconds left in the game. The Green Wave grabbed the lead by returning the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. Southside closed to within 28-14 at the half, and pulled within a point on a MacKenzee Nash 2-yard TD run in the final minute. Instead of going for the extra point and a tie, holder Nick Dyer rolled right and tossed the ball into the end zone. His pass to Braiden Reynolds was tipped by a Greenville defender, but the freshman receiver was still able to make the catch to give the Rebels the one-point win.
2009 meeting: Jay County led early and trailed by just one with two minutes to play, but a Selo Ramjattan interception led to a TD pass from Jacob Burk to Zac Guillozet as the Green Wave locked up a 28-19 victory. Tyler Zimmerman led the Green Wave, which picked up 280 of its 321 yards on the ground, with 12 carries for 131 yards. Michael Daniels gained 63 yards on 20 carries for the Patriots and scored all three of their touchdowns.
Game notes: Jay County must win one of its final two games — it will play New Haven in the opening round of the sectional tournament Oct. 22 — to avoid its second straight 2-8 season, which would mark the worst back-to-back years since 1998 and ’99 ... Both teams have been shut out three times this year. The Patriots had never been blanked more than twice in a single season ... The Green Wave, which picked up its lone win 10-6 over Paulding (2-5) averages just 7.7 points per game while allowing 41.7. Jay County averages 9.6 per game offensively while giving up 37.1 ... The Patriots have lost both of their meetings against Greenville, having dropped a 53-20 decision in Ohio in 2008.
