JC girls roll over Northside

MUNCIE — The Jay County middle school girls swim team won every event Monday in a 123-57 victory over the host Northside Titans.
The boys team fell, 91-79.
Sisters Sophie and Alex Bader each won two events to lead the girls team, with Sophie taking the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly and Alex earning victories in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Their cousin, Anne Vormohr, was first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.
Ashley Mark (100 freestyle), Sydney Mathias (200 freestyle) and Katie Lyons (diving) also added victories.
Vormohr, Sophie Bader and Alex Bader teamed with Mark to win the 400 freestyle relay and joined Mathias in taking first place in the 200 medley relay. Hannah Lykins, Abby Saxman, Mathias and Mark finished first in the 200 freestyle relay.
Conner Daniels won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the boys team, and Sok Vormohr earned victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Cody Moser finished first in diving.

JC 7th wins tourney
HARTFORD CITY — Jay County’s seventh grade girls basketball team topped New Castle 29-27 to win the Blackford Bruins Classic Sunday at Blackford High School.
The squad opened with a 34-24 loss to Norwell in pool play Saturday, and then defeated New Castle 26-20. In tournament play Sunday it topped Missisinewa 40-8 and top-seeded Columbia City 28-11 before edging New Castle for the title.
Playing for Jay County were Catera Gierhart, Alison Jutte, Lilly Rogers, Rebekah Corwin, Deanna Chenoweth, Emily Muhlenkamp, Taylor Homan, Kyndal Miller and Allison Addington.[[In-content Ad]]
